A tier is a range of ratings
Your tier is read from your rating, never from your rank: two people with the same rating have the same tier, whatever their place. Sub-3 is the bottom of the ladder, Chad the very top. The ranges are not the same width, and almost nobody reaches Chad: that is on purpose.
When your tier shows
Until enough people of your sex have scanned, your rating is compared with AI-generated faces. The app then does not show your tier: near the top of that reference, a blurry photo or a different framing is enough to change tier. It shows on its own for scans taken once the reference is built from real people.
Where the names come from
Sub-3, Sub-5, LTN, MTN, HTN, Chadlite and Chad are the words of the looksmax community. LTN, MTN and HTN stand for low, mid and high tier normie. We use them because they are your words.
Your rating itself is calculated from the geometry of your face, compared with a reference for your sex and age. The PSL scale plays no part in the calculation.
What a tier does not say
A tier places one face geometry among others, nothing more. Skin, style, expression and the way you carry yourself are not part of it.
