The 1v1 duel: mog or get mogged

Your photo against someone else’s. Real people decide, and you see how many.

example

MOG

7 voters out of 11

Example figures. A real duel shows how many voters preferred your photo.

Two photos already posted to Voting

A duel needs no new photo. Each side enters with a photo already posted to Voting and checked. Your opponent never sees your photo, and you never see theirs.

Judged by real people

Both photos show up side by side in the Vote feed. Voters do not know it is a duel and see no username. Friends of either player never judge it, and neither does the rating model.

A duel ends at 11 votes. After 48 hours, it ends as soon as it has at least 7 with no tie. It is never cancelled for lack of votes.

MOG or MOGGED

At the end, you see the other player’s username. The winner reads MOG, the loser MOGGED, always with the number of voters who preferred their photo. MOGGED on its own would be an insult. With the vote count, it is a result.

Ranked or friendly

A ranked duel moves your elo, which is counted per season. Ranked duels open with the first season; friendly duels already work and do not touch elo. You enter the duel leaderboard after 3 ranked duels, if you ticked the box that puts your username there.

Starting or accepting

Starting a duel requires a subscription: finding a ranked opponent close to your elo, or challenging a friend through a link. Accepting a duel someone offers you stays free. Either way, you need a verified email address. Three duels at a time, at most.

Who can play

To play, you need a photo posted to Voting, and posting opens at 16. Duels against strangers are for 18 and over (terms of service).
