What you need to know
LooksLadder creates no biometric template and never tries to recognise who you are from your face. No biometric consent is therefore requested from you, and there is none to withdraw.
The previous version of this page described a template that would have been used to check the identity of duel players, and a form to consent to it. That processing was never put into service: LooksLadder duels are decided by voters.
What is measured on your face, and what for
- The scan. The photos taken for analysis never leave your device. The browser extracts numbers from them: the coordinates of 468 points and the sharpness of the face in each photo. The server uses them to calculate your score, then deletes the coordinates.
- Votes. The photos you choose to post there, from age 16 and after a separate agreement given in the app, are sent to the server to be rated by other users, who do not see your username.
- Duels. A duel puts side by side two photos already posted to Votes. It compares no measurement and sends no new photo: voters decide it.
If this were to change
Processing that can identify a person from their face falls under Article 9 of the GDPR. If LooksLadder were ever to use such processing, it would only be switched on after your explicit consent, requested on a separate page, unchecked by default and as easy to withdraw as to give. Accepting the Terms, creating an account or buying a plan would never amount to that consent.
Withdraw your photos
To withdraw your photos from Votes and your agreement, open My votes in the app, then Withdraw everything: your photos are erased from the app immediately, and the duels they were playing in close without a result.
